Sino-US workshop on science frontiers convenes
Headed by Prof. TAN Tieniu, vice secretary-general of CAS, a Chinese delegation of young scientists attended the 11th session of the Chinese-American Kavli Frontiers of Science Symposium held from 2 to 4 October at the Beckman Center of the US National Academy of Sciences, in Irvine, California.
More than 80 young scientists from China and US attended the conference and held discussions on cutting-edge issues in the following eight areas: exoplanets, evolution of new genes/body morphology, human-robot Interactions, consciousness, alternative energy/CO2 to methane, nuclear reprogramming, integrated microfluidics, and chemistry-aerosol-climate interactions.
Since its first session in August 1998, the symposium has brought together some 670 young scientists from about 300 institutions of the two countries.
